This concert features two suites for cello by J.S. Bach. The first suite – the sunny G major suite will be played on solo cello, performed by cellist Rachel Scott.

Then Rachel will be joined by percussionist Ben Sibson to play Bach’s third suite – with a unexpected twist! Ben will improvise using rhythms and drums from around the world over Bach’s music – you’ll be tapping your toes and smiling – guaranteed!

Each movement is accompanied by a different drum – congas, riq, a
cahon, a darbuka – giving each dance a particular flavor and sound.

Rachel and Ben have performed many times in Rachel’s series ‘Bach in the Dark’ to listeners in Sydney, regional NSW and the ACT, and also as part of the COVID live-streamed ‘Bach in the Dark’ concerts and this combination has been loved by
audiences.
